You are President of the United States of America.
You are the most powerful person in the world, and a life-long Democrat. There have been a few bumps along the way but we cheered when you were elected.
Now it seems that a few fuckwits like Manchin and Simena exert more power than you, or at least you have allowed that impression to be created. The result is likely that Republicans will blame a Democratic Congress for all the ills of the world, and elect terrorists in November who will burn the place down.
You have to act! You have to go big, go decisively, and go on all fronts at once.
You control the Executive. You control ALL department heads and have hiring and firing power over everyone who refuses to do your bidding. That’s just how it is, the Founders did that. If you want to understand how to get your will done, go ask TFG.
Here are things you should be doing:
1. Establish Abortion Clinics on federal land in every state. Use the budget for the Border Control.
2. Turn off the lights at the SCOTUS. They are an existential threat to America and you are duty bound to protect us from all enemies, foreign or domestic. When they bleat, tell them to go fuck themselves. Tell the Court it is getting bigger. 26 is a good number and reflects “original intent”.
Get in every Democratic senator. Give them each a Bill you want passing and tell them to get to work. I know you can’t “instruct” them, but they are your friends and will follow your lead. Remind them you control their futures, at least in the short term.
3. Stop all licensing of guns and ban them from all federal lands and buildings. Propose, via a bill, a raft of gun-safety laws and actions, each in a separate bill and have Schumer introduce one per week. Tell the GOP that if they don’t like it, get their asses to the table and figure out something that they can live with, or just ignore them.
4. Get rid of the filibuster, now. You have a giant fucking megaphone, start using it. Bring Congress back into session every time they recess, until they do the people’s work.
5. Get a federal right to abortion on the senate floor. If they are going to vote against it, make them. We want the names.
6. If Pelosi or Schumer object, go around them and tell the country why you are being forced into this.
7. Just DO SOMETHING. Anything. I don’t care what it is but we elected you President on the understanding you would make a difference. We put you there, you owe us.
8. Tell the press to start doing their jobs. Open yourself up for scrutiny and tell them to report it accurately, or they are out. Fox News is out anyway. Lying bastards. The usual suspects will whine. I have news for you, they are whining us right into fascism.
9. Cancel every junket, perk, fancy dinner or celebration for everyone you can. There is work to be done and no one is partying until a good start has been made.
And where the fuck is Harris? I want to see her running point on some major, and impactful, proposals.
We have maybe two election cycles to stop the damage being further done. Two … one in November and one in 2024.
The Progressives were right. The middle-of-the-road-don’t-upset-thegop-neoliberalism has brought us here, and it’s all going the wrong way. To the point where we have open insurrectionists and child traffickers still serving in the House. What the fuck is going on?
I know this is a rant. I know much of what I propose is unworkable, difficult, maybe questionable in terms of the law. But the law is killing us. The Constitution, as currently interpreted, is killing us and they won’t stop.
They won’t stop, Joe, unless you stop them. You are the present, not the future, but you can give our future back to us. Back to all of us including your children, grandchildren and their kids.
Quite honestly, I’d burn the fucking place down before I would hand it to McConnell and his ilk.
Go ahead, tell me I’m wrong about everything but if you are gonna do that you had better bring solutions, and they had better not be fund-raisers and an exhortation to vote.
